Endovenous Ablation: A Minimally Invasive Solution to Varicose Veins

Home » Endovenous Ablation » Endovenous Ablation: A Minimally Invasive Solution to Varicose Veins

veinsVaricose veins are a big pain, figuratively, and sometimes literally as well. This is one of the more common vein and circulatory problems that people are prone to as they age. Most commonly, people will develop varicose veins in their lower legs and feet, though you can get them anywhere. In short, a varicose vein is one that has widened and even taken an erratic, weaving path, as a result of a lower than optimal level of blood flow through said vein.

As we spend a good deal of our time standing, and thus it is our lower legs that have the hardest time getting adequate blood flow due to the simple fact of gravity, it is no wonder that so many people end up with these issues as they get older. For many, varicose veins are simply something that they feel is an eyesore and reduces their self-confidence. However, for others, varicose veins are actually quite painful, causing a sometimes constant burning or bruising sensation.

Thankfully, as medical technology has advanced, we have developed a variety of different ways to get rid of varicose veins. The most common treatment for varicose veins is what is called endovenous ablation. While this is a scary sounding term, it really just is the closing off of injured veins through the use of laser technology. It is a minimally invasive way to address mild to moderate varicose veins and is safe and effective, with very little recovery time required.

Basically, with endovenous ablation, the doctor uses advanced imaging technology to locate your varicose veins and then uses a laser or radio-frequency device to cauterize, or burn closed, the end of the affected vein. In just a couple of weeks, that vein will die and will reduce in visibility on the surface of the skin. Many people report a completion disappearance of varicose veins in just weeks after this non-invasive procedure.

Varicose veins are a common problem for ageing adults, particularly those who worked in active jobs or those that required them to stand for long periods of time. Most often, we develop varicose veins in our lower legs and feet and these can simply be unsightly or they can actually be painful. Either way, most people want a way to get rid of them, which is why so many people have asked their doctors about endovenous ablation. This is a simple, non-invasive technique that is highly effective at reducing or even eliminating the appearance (and associated pain) of your varicose veins.
